Neighborhood Liaisons help residents and businesses connect to valuable information, access services and programs, discover community resources, and develop self-reliance through capacity building.

Neighborhood Registration Referral
Register your neighborhood, community group, business association or homeowners' association with the liaison program and you will receive notice of nearby proposed developments and have the opportunity to comment on these applications. Once registered, your neighborhood will receive information about events, programs of interest and important city notifications. The registration is free. Visit the city's Customer Portal to register, renew or update your community's information.
Neighborhood Beautification Grant Program
The city of Aurora has allocated $60,000 for the Neighborhood Beautification Grant Program, which is designed to encourage neighborhoods to take action to improve the appearance of their neighborhoods. This grant program will be managed by the city's neighborhood liaisons and will provide up to $10,000 per ward. Projects should improve the physical condition of a neighborhood, enhance neighborhood pride and identity, promote self-reliance and increase communication among neighbors.
Block Parties
Neighborhood block parties build relationships and create a friendly community. They are simple to plan, and the city's neighborhood liaisons are ready to help every step of the way. They will work with Police, Fire and Public Works departments so residents can temporarily block off their streets for the festivities. Legally permitted barricades are available from the liaisons on a first-come, first-served basis and requires a $75 refundable deposit. If a group wishes to hold their event in an Aurora city park, a permit may be obtained through the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department.
Neighborhood Fence Replacement Program
The city of Aurora has made many efforts to beautify our city. Street median landscaping, the Art in Public Places Program and requirements that developers provide landscaping along major thoroughfares are evident in a drive through Aurora. This program offers two options for financing the fences in your neighborhood.
Neighborhood News

Neighborhood Engagement Plans
Each neighborhood is unique in its people, its organization and its challenges, and no one understands that better than the residents who live there. To create a better level of understanding between a neighborhood and the city, liaisons will host and facilitate a neighborhood meeting that includes city personnel from various departments to listen to residents identify and prioritize issues they see facing their community. A plan will be created to identify ways the city and residents can work collaboratively to improve upon areas of concern. Examples of potential topics include traffic, pets and wildlife, neighborhood maintenance and public safety.
Traffic Calming Campaign
The Neighborhood Liaison Traffic Calming Campaign program has been combined with Traffic Engineering's Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program. For more information and to apply, please visit the Traffic Calming Program page.
Neighbor-to-Neighbor Roundtables
This is a great opportunity to network with other neighborhood leaders on topics of mutual interest or concern. These smaller, informal meetings are held during the evenings at a central location throughout the year. Topics have included Internet development and communication, fraud prevention, effective organizing, leadership development, planning review training and much more. The roundtables are free and open to all Aurora residents and businesses.

Resources and Grants
Contact your neighborhood liaison to discover available resources and grant possibilities for community-building activities and project development and maintenance. Neighborhood liaisons partner with various city departments and outside resources to provide opportunities fora neighborhood's special projects and ongoing needs.

Helping keep lines of communication open between neighbors, the liaisons can arrange and facilitate neighborhood meetings.
